Ken MitchellBiographyKen Mitchell grew up in Clinton Utah on his parent's farm where he gained a great appreciation and respect for the land. He was taught in his youth to "leave the land better than he found it" and has kept this as his motto through his professional life. He has lived in Clinton all of his life. He attended Davis County Schools and served an LDS Mission to Scotland. In 1973 he graduated from Weber State College with a BS in Manufacturing Engineering. During College he met and fell in love with his wife and best friend, Cheryle Lee. They were married in 1971 and have been blessed with 5 children and 13 grandchildren. After graduation he worked as an engineer for 7 years. In 1980 he began working in the construction industry. In 1984 he and Cheryle formed Ken Mitchell Development Co., Inc. Nearly all of his development and building has been in his home town of Clinton. In 2006 he sold Mitchell Development to his three sons who now continue the family tradition of building custom homes. Ken currently operates the development arm of the business under the name of KeCher Development LLC. Ken joined the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association in 1986 and has been chairman of the Government Affairs committee, and many other committees of the local association. He served on the Advisory Board of the Construction Management Department of Weber State University as a representative of the Home Building industry. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association since 1998 and was elected President of the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association in 2003. He was voted as the 2001 Builder of the Year of his local association. Ken has served as a member of the State of Utah Home Builders board of directors since 1999 and has served as chairman of the Utah Government Affairs Committee and other committees of the State Association. Code issues have been one of his interests as he has worked for the past 8 years with the State Code Commission and other regulatory bodies in this area. He served as President of the Utah Home Builders Association in 2006. Ken was given the 2006 Utah Builder of the Year award for his dedicated service to the association. |
